Date: 21 October 1984

I read with great interest the article on Long Island television news (''Cablevision Plans Major News Show,'' Sept. 16). The main question raised was: ''Should Long Island have its own nightly television news program?'' I join with others who say, ''Absolutely yes!'' ANOTHER ROUND OF NOBELS

Date: 21 October 1984

Jerne, who was born in Britain and raised in Denmark - for their work developing monoclonal antibodies, biological bullets that may one day be used to ''seek and destroy'' cancer cells.
