North into helping in a 1985 arms shipment to Iran, according to sources close to a Congressional investigation at which agency officials testified. Page 1 Mr. Reagan refused to oust officials from his Administration as some Republicans have urged and declined to convene a special session of Congress to examine the diversion of funds from Iran deals. 6 A top Israeli official won approval from Mr. Reagan to ship missiles to Iran in 1985 by telling him that Israel believed the action would lead to the freeing of all the American hostages, sources said. 7 Colonel North apparently worked closely with a network of former intelligence agents and arms dealers run by Richard V. Secord, retired major general, and his Iranian business partner.

Westinghouse Contract Quest

The Westinghouse Electric Corporation joined the battle for the contract to build a new generation of British surveillance planes, announcing a deal that would give a British company $1.6 billion in work if the American Airborne Warning and Control System plane is selected. Storage's Tax Recalculation

The Storage Technology Corporation, a troubled computer equipment maker in Louisville, Colo., said yesterday that, based on recalculations, it owed the Internal Revenue Service between $22 million and $32 million in back taxes, rather than the $650 million sought by the I.R.S. The new total - if the amount is accepted by a Federal court -would allow the company to emerge from bankruptcy. The announcement follows a ruling this week by bankruptcy Judge Roland J. Brumbaugh that was sharply critical of the I.R.S. for the accounting procedures it used to determine that the company owed $650 million.

Matty Simmons, chairman of National Lampoon Inc., said that the company's board was still considering two bids made Thursday by competing groups of investors. The two competing groups are headed by Anthony Cassara, who has offered $7 a share for the Lampoon stock and 75 cents per warrant, and Mark E. Shanker, who has offered $7.10 a share and 75 cents a warrant.

Texas Instruments Pact Is Reported

Japanese newspapers said today that Texas Instruments Inc. had arranged a technology exchange agreement with the Mitsubishi Corporation. A Texas Instruments spokesman declined to confirm the reports but said that the company for some time had had mutual sourcing agreements for certain chips with several Japanese companies, including Mitsubishi.

FirstSouth Closed In F.S.L.I.C. Action

FirstSouth, a savings and loan association based in Pine Bluff, Ark., has been closed in what Federal regulators say is the biggest such action ever handled by the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation. Regulators said that ''reckless and imprudent'' lending to insiders was partly to blame for the insolvency of FirstSouth, the state's second-largest thrift institution.

Bally Acts to Block A Trump Takeover

The Bally Manufacturing Corporation moved today to discourage any takeover efforts by the real estate developer Donald Trump. The Chicago-based company said that it had hired the investment banking firm Drexel Burnham Lambert Inc. to explore a restructuring; adopted a shareholders rights plan, or ''poison pill,'' and filed suit against Mr. Trump Mr. Trump, who owns two hotel-casinos in Atlantic City, disclosed two weeks ago that he had purchased a 9.6 percent stake in Bally and might accumulate more of the company's stock. For its part, Bally owns MGM Grand Hotels Inc.'s three casino-hotels in Atlantic City, Reno and Las Vegas, Nev.
