Wilbur C. Smith

For the American architect, see William Crawford Smith. Wilbur Cleveland Smith (August 9, 1884 – July 3, 1952) was an American college football coach and university administrator. He served as the head football coach at Wake Forest University from 1914 to 1915, compiling a record of 6–10. Smith was appointed as the athletic director at Tulane University in 1922. He was later dean of Louisiana State University Medical School.

EXTENSIVE PRAIRIE FIRE.

DENVER, Col., Aug. 8.--News has been received of a destructive prairie fire, about 150 miles northeast of this place, on the range between Denver Junction and "The Frenchman," The burned district extends about 30 miles along the Platte River and back from the river a great distance, covering a portion of the Jed Brush, Governor Routt, and Bruce Johnson ranges. It has inflicted a great loss upon the stock interests of that region.
