Atticus Shaffer (born June 19, 1998) is an American actor and YouTuber. He is known for playing Brick Heck on the ABC sitcom The Middle (2009–2018), as well for voicing Edgar in the movie Frankenweenie (2012) and Ono on the Disney Junior series The Lion Guard (2016–2019), and for his brief appearance in Hancock (2008). Shaffer also voices Morrie Rydell on Focus on the Family's Adventures in Odyssey.

VALHI PURCHASES A 43.8% STAKE IN TREMONT

Valhi Inc., a holding company with stakes in chemical, waste management and metal parts companies, said yesterday that it had bought 43.8 percent of the Tremont Corporation from the parent of both companies for about $165 million, raising its ownership in the fourth-largest maker of white pigments. Valhi paid $56 a share for 2.9 million Tremont shares from the closely held Contran Corporation, which owns 93 percent of the Dallas-based Valhi. The purchase increases Valhi's stake in NL Industries, the fourth-largest maker of titanium dioxide, from 57 percent to 75 percent because of the Denver-based Tremont's stake in NL. The Texas billionaire Harold C. Simmons owns controlling stakes in Contran, Valhi, NL Industries and Tremont.

The stock of Midland Walwyn Inc. rose yesterday for a fourth day on renewed speculation that the concern, Canada's last major independent brokerage firm, is close to accepting a takeover offer. Midland's stock rose $1.25 (Canadian), to $27.25, in Toronto trading. The stock has risen 19 percent in the last four days, giving the company a market value of about $1 billion (Canadian). Analysts said Merrill Lynch was the most likely buyer for Midland, which has 170 branches and 1,800 employees.
